Well, that was the most convenient nap I've ever taken.

[Oliver doesn't think he's ever going to be fully used to the strange things that happen here. Like falling asleep one night and waking up three weeks later like it's no big deal. He's been here long enough to know that it happens and that there's no real explanation for it and there's really no point in dwelling on it.

He misses the island now more than ever, he realizes, as he leans against the railing on the Barge's deck. Lian Yu had its own set of issues and oddities, he'll admit that, but if it's a straight choice between hellboat or an island in the North Pacific, it's not hard to figure which one he'd choose. If it were a choice between Starling City and the island, he can't honestly say he'd actually want to go back home either.

But anyway, Mr. Queen is just brooding at the stars, if interrupting his thoughts catches your fancy.]

[That's. A little flippant for talking about somebody Alex misses a lot, but he understands having a bad attitude. Mostly.]

[There's a pause. He's not actually very good at initiating conversation, so he looks over the side for a second before continuing.]

Sounds like you're glad he's gone.

[A lot of Oliver's bad attitude is an act, honestly. To keep people at a distance.]

I never really got to know the guy. [Except that Tim asked a lot of questions that Oliver didn't want to answer and he doesn't miss that.]

Sounds like you knew him pretty well.

I knew him all right.

We helped save a guy from bleeding out when he first got here, so.

How noble of you. [That actually is, but you know. He's a billionaire playboy and Alex wasn't on the list of people who knew about the Hood, that he knows of, and he'd like to keep it that way.]

Did you come to ask me questions about Tim or are you just bored?

[He rolls his eyes. Okay, Oliver, fine.]

Bored. You looked bored, too, though. Or brooding, maybe.

I just spent the last three weeks of my afterlife asleep. I'm not sure bored or brooding covers it.

[You think you've seen sassy eyebrows before but the one that Oliver raises at Alex for that is one of the best.]

[Alex, your mother's influence is showing. But Oliver's not a total barbarian either, so he shakes the hand offered to him.]

[His mother is the finest telepath this Barge has ever seen and has flawless manners when he's not flirting. Strong handshake is a go.]

[This is an invitation to give him a dramatic rendition of your life story. Although Alex knows bullshit is likely.]

The rest isn't that interesting. I spent the last five years on shipwrecked on an island.

Tim and I never got around to exactly why I'm here. [Though, he could guess. But he's not about to tell a kid that he just met that he puts arrows in people for a living.]

No, you don't seem very sharing and caring.

My social skills took a real hit being stranded on a deserted island. [For someone who keeps a lot of things close to the vest, he's almost annoyingly honest about other things. Although he's always been kind of an asshole.]

You'll have to forgive me.

Well, I would if you didn't seem to kind of relish it.

[There goes Oliver's eyebrow, going to meet his hairline again.]

The [he gestures vaguely] attitude. You like it.

[A muscle works in his jaw. Honestly, like he's going to listen to some teenager talk to him about attitude.]

Pretty sure being stranded for five years gives me a carte blanche to act however I want.

[Look how much he cares about your manpain, Oliver.]

[You're going to be the worst warden. All Oliver has to offer is a shrug, like he doesn't care what Alex thinks.]
